💡 Café des Idées : Screening of "I am the River"
Join us for our Café des Idées event next Monday, March 18th, at 6 PM at the Lumière cinemas. This event, organized by FAST! (France Aotearoa Science Technology and Innovation) and supported by the Alliance Française, promises an insightful evening.
We will be screening the documentary "I am The River," followed by a Q&A session with the director, Mathieu Frison.
The documentary tells the captivating story of New Zealand’s Partington collection, which includes previously unknown 19th-century photographs of Whanganui Maori. These photographs were discovered by chance in 2001, leading to a storm of protest over their ownership and sale. The documentary traces the journey of the collection and the cultural clash that ensued between Maori and Pakeha views of ownership.
Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for general admission. Don't miss this opportunity to delve into New Zealand's rich history and engage in meaningful discussions.
We look forward to seeing you there!
